Council advisors guide student members of our Community Stewardship Council and our Junior Counselor Program in developing their own stewardship ethic through the Wild LANDS framework: Learning ecosystems (honoring human and non-human teachers), Activism and systems thinking, Navigational leadership, Developing character, and Sustained community engagement.
LANDS intentionally works to discover, develop, and make these traits outstanding in our Stewardship Council through activism work in local and global politics, doing regular service work on the island, volunteering in the After School Program as a Junior Counselor and organizing an annual fundraiser for the Montana Summer trips. Each year, our Stewardship Council hosts a Common Grounds Summit bringing together O’ahu and international students to address local and global issues.
Each aspect of our program involves the current High School Stewardship Council members and Wild Kids alumni. They are engaged in decision-making, logistics, inter-island trip planning, Montana trip planning, community service and activism, guiding after school groups and guiding summer trips in Montana.
